Thank you from HaikuHelp.com

Through the generosity of individuals and businesses in the community, HaikuHelp.com has been able to raise more than $100,000 for the Rachel Widomski Medical Care Trust.

Rachel Widomski (former bartender) and Julie Liu (co-owner) were both injured on May 15 when they were struck by the SUV of a man who had skipped out on his dinner bill. Rachel suffered injuries that have left her permanently paralyzed from the waist down. Julie suffered a concussion and damages to her arm.

Rachel's family says, "Rachel extends her gratitude for all of your love, support, and generosity. She is appreciative of the opportunity your generosity gives her to remain in the community and continue her education and art by assisting her with special housing, equipment, and education expenses. Above all, you have given Rachel and us an indescribable sense of security and hope that has enabled healing and happiness and we thank you so very much."

Paul Liu, owner of Haiku and husband of Julie Liu, says, "It has been phenomenal, the amount of concern and care and all the prayers that have come from the community. Julie and I and my family are extremely appreciative of the outpourings of love. Julie is doing well with her progress. She will continue undergoing physical and psychological rehabilitation."
