Update on the Italian Village Park Pavilion

Here is an update from Lisa Snyder with the Neighborhood Design Center:

To give a little background, our organization (The Neighborhood Design Center) in conjunction with the City of Columbus Departments of Development and Recreation and Parks, has been working with various stakeholders in the neighborhood to manage a competition for a pavilion in Italian Village Park. The pavilion is intended to continue serving as a gathering place for residents and visitors, maintaining flexibility for various community events, while also further defining a “sense of place” and expressing the identity and spirit of the neighborhood.
After launching a Request for Qualifications in mid-June, 3 design teams were selected in late September by an advisory panel to design proposals for the pavilion and additional landscape for the park. The selected finalists include the design team of Jonathan Barnes Architecture & Design and Implement Studio, Tim Lai ArchitecT and the design team of WSA Studios and CYP Studios. The design teams will present their proposals in a public meeting to be held on Wednesday November 18th from 4-8pm. The meeting will be held at the Junior Achievement Center’s gymnasium space (located at 68 E. 2nd Avenue) with presentations from all 3 design teams and will give the community an opportunity to engage in the process. Additional information on the process can be found on our website (http://www.theneighborhooddesigncenter.org/italian-village-pavilion.html).
