Updates on SID (Special Improvement District):
Betsy Pandora and Mark Wagenbrenner attended the meeting to provide an update on the progress of the Italian Village Special Improvement District (SID).

A SID is created by a petition of 60% of the property owners in a geographic region. These owners elect to self-assess themselves to create a pool of money which is used to improve to public areas within the designated SID. An example: the Short North SID. The Italian Village SID is currently before Columbus City Council for approval. If approved, the Short North SID will be used to manage and implement the Italian Village SID. This will create efficiencies and eliminate the learning curve to implementation. Once approved, the SID Board would be established which consists of 9 people. Italian Village Society expressed interest in having a seat on this board. The Board would work together to allocate the funds collected from the SID. It will take approximately 1 year for the SID services to come to fruition. For a homeowner affected by the SID, it would equate to approximately $.105/sq.ft in additional taxes. Italian Village Society feels the SID would be a great vehicle to help us accomplish some of our current initiatives and other stated goals for the neighborhood.

Columbus Police Update:
Dennis Jeffrey introduced himself as the new Columbus Police Department’s officer liaison. Dennis replaced Officer Smith who many residents know and are familiar with.

Short North Foundation Grant:
It was brought before the Society that the Short North Foundation grant request is due by June 1st. The maximum grant allowed is $9,000 which would equate to 50% of the projects overall total cost. This topic was tabled for further discussion by the IVS Board at their next board meeting.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:45pm.
