2024 IVS Objectives
ENGAGEMENT.
Further IVS’ structure and transparency through the creation of new bylaws that establish organizational procedures, such as monthly reviews of finances, defining officer and chair positions, as well as collectively reviewing/approving meeting minutes.
Host a series of fun, community-focused events in 2024, including but not limited to IVS’ July membership drive and December holiday party.
Create awareness of Italian Village, both locally and throughout the city, to encourage the economic advancement, beautification and development of our neighborhood – in partnership with the Short North Arts District, the 54SID as well as the IV Commission.
Grow the Society in order to reflect Italian Village’s expanding business and residential community by setting an annual goal to establish membership at 10% of the population. For 2024, this means steadily increasing membership month over month.
COLLABORATION.
Realign the Society and the Commission through representation at meetings and cross sharing of information in communications. Review IVC agendas prior to each IVS meeting, and seek to make recommendations to projects.
Through IVS’ membership, but in collaboration with the Columbus Recreation & Parks Department and private sector partners, designate Urban Infrastructure Recovery Funds (UIRF) for Italian Park and subsequent projects.
IMPROVEMENT.
Work with the City and State to increase Summit and 4th Street safety through short and long-term solutions.
Develop a new memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the City, while working with private sector partners, for the mutual benefit and maintenance of Italian Village’s greenspaces.
Evaluate the renaming of Christopher Columbus Park by looking to take the decision to a membership vote. If approved, name submissions will then be collected from those working or living in Italian Village.
